Samsung Wallet Launches USDC Transfers on Solana

Samsung has activated USDC accounts for eligible Galaxy users in the United States, bringing stablecoin transfers and international payments directly into its mobile wallet.

Samsung Wallet has officially launched its Stablecoin Account feature, allowing eligible U.S. Galaxy users to buy, hold, send, and receive USDC through the Solana network.

The service went live on November 2, 2026, following its initial announcement on October 7. The Solana Foundation confirmed the rollout on November 5, marking the transition from a planned integration to an active consumer service.

The feature is built directly into Samsung Wallet, eliminating the need for a separate cryptocurrency application or personal management of private keys.

Samsung Brings USDC to 82 Million Galaxy Devices

The Stablecoin Account feature is available across approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the United States, although that figure represents potential reach rather than active users.

USDC is a stablecoin designed to maintain a value equal to the U.S. dollar. By integrating it into Samsung Wallet, the company allows users to access digital dollars alongside their existing payment cards, identification documents, and boarding passes.

Transactions are processed through Solana, while custody and supporting financial services are handled by established infrastructure providers.

Samsung developed the integration with Bastion, a licensed stablecoin custodian and infrastructure provider. Coinbase serves as Bastion’s sub-custodian, safeguarding USDC through its institutional Coinbase Prime Vault service.

This arrangement allows customers to use stablecoins without directly managing their own crypto wallets or private keys. However, the Stablecoin Account holds digital assets rather than traditional bank deposits.

USDC Transfers and International Payments

The integration supports both cryptocurrency transfers and international money transfers to eligible bank accounts.

Users can access these functions through the Stablecoin Account card in Samsung Wallet’s Quick access tab.

Sending USDC to Other Wallets

Eligible customers can transfer USDC to other Samsung Wallet users in the United States or compatible external cryptocurrency wallets.

Samsung charges no transfer fee for these transactions, although fees from other service providers may still apply.

Transfers settle through Solana, with the underlying network infrastructure largely hidden from the user.

Sending Money to Bank Accounts Abroad

Samsung Wallet also supports international transfers to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries.

Recipients may receive funds in their local currency, allowing users to send money internationally without requiring the recipient to maintain a cryptocurrency wallet.

Fees, supported destinations, and availability depend on the receiving country and the service providers involved.

The integration connects stablecoin transfers with traditional banking infrastructure, making digital dollars usable beyond cryptocurrency platforms.

Who Can Use Samsung’s Stablecoin Account?

At launch, the service is restricted to eligible users in the United States.

The main requirements include:

  • U.S. residency and a minimum age of 18 years.
  • An active Samsung Account.
  • A compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or later.
  • Completion of account registration, identity verification, and biometric authentication setup.

The feature is not available to New York residents.

Samsung has not announced a confirmed timeline for expanding availability to additional jurisdictions.

Why Samsung’s Stablecoin Launch Matters

The rollout represents a practical step toward bringing stablecoins into everyday financial applications rather than limiting their use to crypto exchanges and specialized wallets.

For consumers, the main benefit is accessibility. Users can hold digital dollars and transfer funds through an application they may already use, without learning how to manage private keys or navigate unfamiliar crypto interfaces.

For the broader industry, Samsung’s integration creates a new distribution channel for stablecoin payments through a major consumer electronics platform.

Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, highlighted the importance of making stablecoins accessible beyond existing crypto users:

“For a decade, stablecoins have proved the technology works. What they lacked was a way to reach the mainstream.”

The launch also demonstrates how Solana can provide settlement infrastructure behind familiar financial services while companies such as Bastion and Coinbase handle custody and other operational requirements.

Samsung Plans to Explore Retail Payments

Samsung has indicated that future development could include online purchases and contactless in-store payments using stablecoins.

Additional markets may also become available, depending on local regulations and service readiness. These capabilities remain prospective rather than confirmed features of the current launch.

The significance of Samsung’s rollout lies less in introducing another way to hold USDC and more in where that functionality now exists. By placing stablecoin services inside an established smartphone wallet, Samsung is testing whether digital assets can become part of ordinary payment experiences without requiring consumers to interact directly with cryptocurrency infrastructure.
